‘Phoenicia’
Performance
‘Phoenicia’ was written and created by Lara Gallagher and premiered as part of Free State 13, commissioned by the Crash Ensemble. The work evolved into a semi-graphic score exploring the color purple. During the performance, I painted a large canvas live, responding to the musicians as they interpreted the score, while my gestures and visual decisions influenced their playing in return. The piece was conducted by Ryan B. McAdams and presented as part of the New Music Dublin festival at Smock Alley Theatre in 2021.
